When the new bus stands were being installed near KFC at the shops, I rang Cr Aitken to suggest that it would be preferrable to place "cut-outs" at these bus stops (so that buses could pull off the road). This would have the effect of allowing traffic to proceed when a bus, or in particular, two buses (one on either side of the road) are at the bus stop.
At the moment, traffic is regularly forced to stop to allow oncoming vehicles to procede between the buses.
Cr Aitken cited some regulation or other which didn't allow cut-outs in residential areas.

I would like to suggest that wherever possible, cutouts should be employed at bus stops to help maintain traffic flow. Common sense and practicality should prevail over red tape!
I would like to read your response.

Thanks to a local resident and South Ward Councillor Prue Guillaume

I received this email today... 21.08.2009

Hi Mary, not sure if you already know or are interested but i thought you might like to post it on the GPAG website for the other parents who live along this side.

The bethany school bus route 4541 (i think) which is an afternoon service now comes all the way down ridgetop drive - past creekside and lakeside. The morning bus service wont commence until sometime in term 4.

Apparently by next year we would have bus stops down this side of ridgetopdrive and a regular bus service as well as th school bus service. Council and west bus informed me that we did not have this previously as the little "bridge" between Creekside and lakeside could not hold the weight of the bus.. of course after my countless phone calls it now can.
